Salary: Dependent upon the skills and qualifications of the successful incumbent


  • Investigate, analyse, develop and implement new and alternative manufacturing processes and procedures using lean techniques, Kaizen practices, TOC and Six-Sigma strategies
  • Drive and promote performance improvement through manufacturing excellence, continuous improvement, and efficiency
  • Plan, create, and implement improvement programs which create competitive advantage in manufacturing
  • Oversee the use of goals, performance measurement and clear and effective metrics and targets for all operations
  • Ensure manufacturing capabilities meet or exceed requirements for cost, quality, delivery, safety and responsiveness
  • Assist with developing a competitive manufacturing strategy that ensures the Company manufactures a quality product, on time to our customers.
  • Partner with employees to assess current processes and identify process improvement opportunities
  • Retain and build a high performing team, as well as define staffing plans for employees and seasonal labour
  • Effectively lead, inspire and motivate teams
  • Manage and develop direct and indirect labour associated with manufacturing, quality and Manufacturing Engineering
  • Recommend and assist with employee development programs and ensure performance objectives are outlined and completed in a timely manner
  • Participate in the recruitment process including training, developing and evaluating employees
  • Work with Human Resources for coaching, counselling and corrective actions
  • Ensure all safety policies and procedures are implemented and followed.
  • Ensure housekeeping in manufacturing facility is best in class
  • Recommend and implement facility layout for LEAN production flow
  • Support supply base in assessing supplier capability and manage inventory levels for optimum results
  • Establish, implement, and monitor KPI’s for safety, service level, quality, cost, and productivity
  • Work with leadership of other departments to ensure optimal results
  • Work closely with leadership to proactively plan long-term operations strategies
  • Perform other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor Degree in related field or equivalent work experience
  • Technical Degree an asset but not required
  • 10+ years of related experience in a manufacturing management role, preferably in a process-oriented operation and/or related industry
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in process improvement techniques such as: Lean, 5S, Six-Sigma, Kaizans, TPM. Etc.
  • Experience with automation implementations an asset
  • Experience using production aspects of an integrated ERP system
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and problem solving skills
  • Proficient with computers and working ability with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Six Sigma, 5S, Lean Manufacturing Certification
  • Supervisory Skills Training an asset


  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Demonstrated leadership in a similar environment
  • Demonstrated ability to implement effective processes and apply problem solving tools
  • Comfortable in cross-functional environments ability to build collaborative relationships
  • Hands on, self-starter with ability to complete projects and resolve problems in a timely manner with the quality required
  • Highly motivated with the willingness to learn and grow
  • Effective at presenting information and responding to questions from groups of Managers, clients, customers and general public
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence
  • Strong organization skills with ability to multitask and oversee multiple projects
  • Expertise in establishing, implementing and executing process; experience leading a team
  • Demonstrated experience applying engineering concepts
  • Industry experience in a variety or manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of safety and safe work practices
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions
  • Ability to read, analyse, and interpret general business periodicals and government regulations
  • Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Identify and recommend tools and techniques to improve efficiency
  • Knowledge and understanding of budgets and financial principles to assist in optimizing financial results
  • Strong background in operational leadership and experience in leading manufacturing
  • Track record implementing continuous improvement initiatives
  • Strong business acumen with an in-depth understanding of the financial implications of operational strategies
  • Prior experience and leadership success driving change in culture
  • Demonstrated track record in operations management, manufacturing production, and strategic implementation
