Production Planner 

Magnum is currently seeking an experienced PRODUCTION PLANNER to join our growing team!

  • Generate and execute daily production schedules based on production / business demands
  • Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities, with purchasing, production and shipping departments.
  • Proactively Identify, investigate, correct and document potential production problems
  • Assist with the planning process for capacity requirements
  • Review long-term forecasts to identify and mitigate possible capacity/material issues and recommend appropriate action.
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules and other records / reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs
  • Work with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within and between departments
  • Regularly monitor production progress, and provide information for production plans to ensure that objectives are met successfully
  • Coordinate activities with other supervisors, leads, and managers to obtain maximum use of resources.
  • Troubleshoot problems and recommend solutions to improve production flow and quality
  • Estimate materials required for production and coordinate traffic flow of supplies 
  • Issue all work orders per production schedule using Magnum’s ERP system and ensure that work orders are completely in a timely fashion within the desired budget
  • Participate and assist with material requirement planning
  • Assist with Cycle counting/Bar Coding and participate with the annual inventory process
  • Compile worksheets and specifications of orders
  • Prepare and maintain progress and other reports as required
  • Maintain a safe and healthful working abiding by Magnum’s Safety Program Guidelines
  • Ensure that all production planning functions are compliant with legislative rules & regulations
  • Ensure compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety and complete and on-time delivery
  • Maintain and adhere to all company policies & procedures
  • Perform other tasks as may be assigned


  • Post-secondary education or equivalent level of related work experience
  • Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) an asset
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a production planning role within a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 3 years experience in logistics / supply chain
  • Ability to communicate both verbal and written in the English language
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc.)
  • Experience with Visual ERP system specific to inventory and scheduling modules

  • Superb organizational skills with the ability to multitask and work closely with others
  • Ability to manage multiple demands while achieving quality workmanship
  • Flexible and ability to adapt to a fast paced and ever changing environment
  • Understanding of Lean Methodologies with an openness for continuous improvement
