Brake & Shear Operator

(1) Afternoon Shift (Monday – Thursday 4:30pm – 2:30am)
(1) Day Shift (Monday – Thursday 6:00am – 4:30pm)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Read and understand layout and measurement specifications including the ability to read blue prints
  • Set-up, maintain and operate machinery
  • Ability to check parts with tape measure, calipers, and angle finder
  • Produce parts and ensure quality and design compliance as per Magnum and customer specifications
  • Lift / move product & material in various positions
  • Lay-out reference points and patterns on metal
  • Maintain daily quality records and production schedules as required
  • Adherence to pre-established standards of performance, shop safety policies and procedures
  • Maintain a safe work environment within the department and on each job
  • Responsible to identify areas for improvement, ways to better expedite and gain production efficiencies, and cost reductions where applicable.
  • Consistently punctual and available for a minimum of 40 hours of work per week
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED: 

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • 3-5 years in a fabrication / manufacturing environment using equipment
  • Previous experience working with hydraulic brake press & metal fabrication
  • Familiar with metal thickness
  • Experienced and familiar with the use of hand tools and equipment
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbal & written in the English language
  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions via written, verbal, or diagram format
  • Strong organizational & time management skills including ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Professional demeanor and demonstrates positive team member values
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Regularly required to stand; walk; sit;
  • Ability to use hands to operate equipment, handle, or feel;
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 – 50lbs
  • Occasionally lift and/or move >50lbs with assistance
  • Ability to kneel, bend, squat, push, pull, and reach above and below waist
  • Ability to wear fully fitted respirator when required
